MaestroGen eCooler - Portable and Ultra Rapid Cooling Efficiency

MaestroGen provides an innovative, portable and eco-friendly cooling system for your daily experiments.
Maestrogen designs a Peltier cooler with a portable cooling box with excellent temperature maintenance
and UltraRapid cooling efficiency.

The new eCooler portable cooling system makes ice a thing of the past for PCR set up and cellular applications.
Just turn it on and the Peltier-controlled cooling unit will rapidly cool the sample compartment to less than 4
oC
in under 10 minutes.

The sample compartment holds blocks for individual 0.2 mL or 1.5 mL microcentrifuges, tube strips or PCR microplates
and can be removed from the cooling unit and used anywhere on your bench or in a fume hood or workstation.

The eCooler is simple and quiet to use. Just press the ON button and the unit will begin the cool-down process. The dry
cooling process improves sample integrity as samples and reagents are not in contact with wet ice and the use of sample
blocks improves sample management.

 Features:

  • Efficient: consists of a Peltier-controlled cooling unit with removable sample compartment and user-interchangeable sample blocks
  • Ideal for PCR and cellular applications; compact for use in biological safety cabinets and fume hoods
  • Highly flexible: designed for cooling 96 well PCR plates, 0.2 mL and 1.5 mL microcentrifuge tubes, and tube strips without ice
  • Rapid cooling: takes less than 10 min to cool from ambient temperature to below 4oC
  • Portable: Removable sample compartment maintains temperature below 4oC for more than 25 minutes without cooling unit
  • Quiet operation: noise level 19 dB(A)
  • Reduced environmental impact: uses 80% less energy compared to making equivalent amount of ice required for similar cooling capability
  • Improves sample management and integrity: samples are organized in blocks and not in contact with wet ice.

Specifications:

• Cooling Device: two Peltier chips
• Power Supply: 12VDC adaptor
• Aluminum Rack: 1.5 mL 12 holes / 0.2 mL 48 holes for eppendorf tubes
• Steady State Temperature: -0.5 ~ 0.5 °C
• Temperature Accuracy: within ± 1°C
• Cooling Speed: 10 min from R.T. ( ≤ 25℃) to below 4°C
• Temperature Maintenance without cooling module: < 4°C ; > 25 min
• Noise: 19 dB-A
• Temperature Display: LCD
• Dimension (mm): 220D x 170W x 190H
• Weight (Kg): 2.2 Kg without racks

Applications of MaestroGen eCooler:

1. Replaces Ice Bucket

Disadvantages of current Esky Systems:

1. Not easy to organize samples. Difficult to keep tubes upright.
2. Rapid melting of ice, and sample can become contaminated when soaking in melting water
3. Ice-maker machines are very costly to purchase and operate

eCooler’s advantages:

1. Easy to organize samples, with different composition of racks
2. Stable temperature, never melt and keep samples clean
3. Save energy, diminishes 2.67MT/year CO2 emission
2. Replace other cooling systems, ex. dry bath

Other cooling system’s disadvantages:

1. Very slow cooling speed, usually takes more than 30 minutes from room temperature to 4 ℃
2. Not portable due to electrical cord
3. Some cooling boxes have to be stored in a refrigerator before using. They can occupy a lot of space and struggle
to stablize temperature after taken out

eCooler’s advantages:

1. The fastest cooling speed in the world, 10 minutes from room temperature to 4 ℃
2. Portable, temperature maintained at 4 ℃ within 30 minutes
3. No need to occupy refrigerator’s space, holds stable temperature at ± 0.5 ℃
4. Easy to freeze cells

Why does your PCR need eCooler?

For general PCR or real-time PCR reactions, all reagents have to be mixed and stored at low temperatures.
The risks are high for temperature increases for dNTPs and Polymerase reactions if not sufficiently cooled
before placing tubes into PCR machines. Researchers have to keep them inactive. After PCR reaction, researchers
still need to keep PCR products at low temperatures for their following experiments. eCooler is convenient for
researchers to prepare PCR reaction solution at low temperature!

How eCooler helps cell-freezing?

When freezing cell lines, researchers must centrifuge cells from a medium, and then add to a freezing material.
The Suspension is then placed on ice for protection before adding to DMSO. Traditionally, researchers have to
operate on ice, but cell lines are very sensitive to contamination and unstable temperatures. If a small piece of
ice falls into the tube this could lead to major issues especially in PC2/PC3 isolation labs hence the absence of
ice-making units. When researchers use ice, it is normally brought in from outside the lab which needs to be sterile.
Placing an eCooler in PC2/PC3 cell culture labs could solve this problem. It doesn’t need to be connected to a water
pipe, doesn’t need to brought in to the lab from outside, and is easily transported to move to a liquid nitrogen dewar
for its next freezing step.
