Introduction
Two-dimensional electrophoresis (2-DE) is widely used for proteomic researches. In the first dimensional IEF, salt interference is thought to be a major factor which deteriorates 2-DE results. Salt contents in 2-DE samples may result in high heat and high conductivity, this may burn the immobilized pH gradient (IPG) gel strips. In IEF, the supplied electric energy, in terms of volt-hours (Vh), should be optimized to avoid underfocusing or overfocusing. Now, IEF Do-It-Right combines a IEF Salt Meter with an on-line software (Voltage-Hour Calculator), this product can predict an optimal IEF total voltage hour for your IEF experiments. The reproducibility and the success rate of 2-DE experiments can be greatly increased.
